De geruchten en speculaties gaan al maanden rond op internet of Bill Murray nu wel of geen deel uit gaat maken van Ghostbusters 3. Nu heeft Dan Aykroyd tegenover de Britse krant The Telegraph verkondigd dat het nu definitief is dat Murray niet mee zal doen:
“I honestly don’t know. At this point it’s in suspended animation,” he said when asked about the film’s status. “The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn’t want to be involved. He’s got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He’s into this life and living it. I know we’d have a lot of fun [but] I can’t be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know.”
Ghostbusters 3 zal worden gemaakt door Sony Pictures. Hoewel Sony nog steeds graag wil dat Murray meedoet, worden de kansen nu dus steeds kleiner. Dit zal ook gevolgen hebben op het script dat ook nog steeds niet af is. Aykroyd geeft aan dat er echt een goed script moet zijn voordat de opnames zullen beginnen. Een vervolg om de franchise verder uit te buiten is niet de bedoeling.
De verwachtingen zijn dan ook dat we op kort termijn nog geen Ghostbusters 3 zullen gaan zien. Wordt vast en zeker vervolgd!
Nah! Zonder Bill Murray geen Ghostbusters hoor! :S
